The Romanian Section signed a protocol to promote mediation with the Bucharest Court of Appeal, the highest court in Romania, and with The Mediation Council and is preparing to launch a new volume, including all judgments in 2010 in the mediation field in Romania. Location of monitors in courts (first of all, in the Hall of Lost Steps of the Palace of Justice in Bucharest) enables us to run, alongside regular public information of the court, information relating to mediation (legislation, benefits, mediators, role plays performed by professional actors).
The Romanian Section of GEMME collaborates with the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University in a Master of Studies program about mediation. In April 2011, judges, members of GEMME, participated as speakers in two conferences organized by Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University and Nicolae Titulescu University, with presentation about GEMME and mediation as alternative method of resolving conflicts.
We, also, start a collaboration with the mediation magazine ”Mediation. Engineering and Art” (www.mediereatehnicasiarta.ro), which has a space, coordinated by a GEMME member, dedicated to magistrates and their experience in mediation.
With the support of some judges, members of GEMME, at the Sixth, Fifth and Fourth District Court of first instance and at the Iasi Court of first instance, were opened offices that provide free information about mediation and its procedure.
